Roxas City, Capiz – An elderly woman and her daughter were found dead inside their home in Sitio Riles, Barangay Lanot, Roxas City on the morning of May 7th. Elma, 73, and her daughter Ruby Jean, 36, were discovered lying in a pool of blood in their living room, suffering from head injuries consistent with being struck by a blunt object.
The horrific discovery was made around 10:20 a.m. when Ruby Jean’s 8-year-old son, who is autistic, sought help from Elma’s niece and neighbor, Roselyn. The child reportedly cried out, “Wawa is going to the hospital. Open the door,” prompting concerned neighbors to investigate.
After receiving no response at the doorbell, neighbors forced entry into the house through an unlocked kitchen door. They immediately found Elma’s body in the living room, followed by Ruby Jean’s, whose clothing had been partially disarranged.
The Capiz Emergency Response Team (CERT) confirmed the victims were deceased at the scene. Roxas City Police Chief Lt. Col. Ricardo Jomuad estimated the time of death to be between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m., based on CCTV footage showing Ruby Jean’s vehicle arriving at the residence at 5:01 a.m. Ruby Jean worked as a virtual assistant.
Investigators reported no signs of forced entry and have not yet recovered a murder weapon. The motive for the double homicide remains under investigation.
