
Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region brought its medical team to provide primary care services to GIDA communities particulary in Barangays Duplas in Sudipen and Balbalayong in San Gabriel during the “Serbisyo Caravan” held in La Union on April 29 and May 2, 2025.
Residents were provided with blood sugar ug glucose testing, Operation Timbang, health risk assessment, promotion of proper hygiene and dental hygiene plus dental services including tooth extraction, consultations and free maintenance medicines.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco said that the Serbisyo Caravan” ensures that all government services will be delivered to every Filipino, especially to those in remote areas.
“Nagsama-sama po ang lahat ng ahensiya ng ating pamahalaan upang lahat ng iba’t-ibang serbisyo ay mailapit at maibigay sa mga taong nangangailangan. Sa tulong ng mga lokal na pamahalaan ay maisasakatupan ito. Hindi nyo na kailangang pumunta pa sa kabayanan dahil kami po ay magbibigay ng serbisyo mismo sa inyong mga lugar,” Sydiongco stated.
The regional office also turned-over 1000 oral health packages each for the two barangays.
The Serbisyo Caravan is a flagship program of the government to bring government programs and services closer to the people in GIDAs and conflict-stricken areas to lessen the influence of local communist groups.
Among the national government agencies that participated were from Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Department of Education, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Social Welfare and Development, PNP and PA who presented their programs and services to the communities.
