A CHRISTMAS celebration turned deadly in Antipolo City, where a 17-year-old teenager was killed by his brother-in-law following an argument at a party.
The victim was found with an amputated hand at his home in Barangay Bagong Nayon early Sunday morning.
According to police reports, the victim and the suspect had attended a Christmas party together and returned home in the early hours of the morning.
An argument erupted between the two, escalating into violence.
The suspect allegedly hacked and stabbed the victim multiple times, inflicting fatal wounds to the head, chest, and back.
The victim’s mother, who was present at the scene, recounted that her son had identified his attacker before being rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The suspect’s relatives voluntarily surrendered him to the barangay authorities.
Police recovered the bolo used in the attack at the back of the house. The suspect is currently in custody at the Antipolo City Police Station and is facing murder charges.
The suspect claimed he was asleep when the victim attacked him with a piece of wood, threatening to stab him.
However, the victim’s uncle, Joseph delos Santos, disputed this claim, stating that the argument began with playful banter between the two men, who were both intoxicated.
Delos Santos alleges that the victim’s joking threat to “hack” the suspect prompted the suspect to act preemptively in fear.
The Antipolo City Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
