CUSTOMERS of Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) are facing higher electricity bills this December due to an increase in generation charges.
The generation charge hike, similar to the one experienced in November, has triggered a new round of power rate increases, reaching P0.1048 per kilowatt hour (kWh). This brings the overall rate for a typical household to P11.9617 per kWh, up from P11.8569 per kWh in the previous month.
According to Meralco vice president and head of Corporate Communications Joe Zaldarriaga, households consuming 200 kWh can expect to see an increase of P21 on their electricity bills this December.
