MOTORISTS should expect mixed movements in pump prices next week, with diesel set to go down while gasoline rises, according to industry estimates.
Based on full-week Mean of Platts Singapore trading and foreign exchange averages, diesel is projected to see a rollback of ₱0.80 to ₱1.00 per liter, while gasoline prices are expected to increase by ₱2.00 to ₱2.20 per liter. The adjustments reflect diverging regional market trends, with diesel supported by improved supply conditions and gasoline constrained by higher crude costs.
The projected diesel decline comes from a softer global outlook, bolstered by stock releases and increased exports from China and Russia, which have eased supply concerns.
In contrast, Asian gasoline markets remain tight despite the release of Chinese export quotas, as elevated crude prices continue to pressure refining margins across the region. Oil companies will formally announce the official price changes on Monday, with adjustments taking effect the following day.
This week, effective October 27, diesel and kerosene went up by ₱1.20 and ₱0.50 per liter respectively, while gasoline dropped by ₱0.30 per liter. These latest adjustments mark the 43rd round of price changes this year, bringing the total net increase since January to ₱68.55 per liter for gasoline, ₱65.63 per liter for diesel, and ₱63.26 per liter for kerosene. Consumers are advised to watch for the official announcements early next week for the exact rates to be implemented.
