THE Republic Gas Corporation (Regasco) has implemented the final phase of its upward price adjustments for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for April, citing movements in international contract prices.
The company announced a staggered price adjustment totaling P16 per kilogram for the month, with the last installment taking effect on Monday, April 6, 2026. This cumulative increase translates to a significant P176 rise for standard 11-kilogram cylinders.
Following this adjustment, the suggested retail price for Regasco’s 11-kilogram LPG cylinders in Luzon has now reached P1,600. This move by Regasco comes after other major LPG providers, including Petron Corporation and Solane, also announced substantial double-digit price increases for their products earlier in the month.
The LPG Markets Association (LPGMA) had previously cautioned that prices for an 11-kg tank could potentially reach as high as P1,500 in April, attributing the surge to escalating shipping costs exacerbated by limited access to the Strait of Hormuz.
These price hikes are occurring despite the current suggested retail price for an 11-kilogram cylinder, as per the Department of Energy’s (DOE) latest available data from March 2026, which ranged between P818.62 and P1,128.62.
The significant increase implemented by Regasco and other industry players highlights the ongoing volatility in global energy markets, influenced by geopolitical factors such as the tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, which impacts shipping costs and, consequently, the prices consumers pay for essential fuels like LPG.
