ACTRESS Angelika dela Cruz, also the barangay chair of Barangay Longos in Malabon City, has been charged with plunder at the Office of the Ombudsman.
The complaint alleges that approximately ₱70 million in barangay funds are involved in the case.
In addition to the plunder charge, Arman Ramos also filed charges against Dela Cruz for malversation of public funds and administrative offenses. \
These additional charges stem from alleged negligence in her duties as barangay captain, including frequent absences without official leave and the unauthorized delegation of her responsibilities to her brother, Councilor Erick dela Cruz.
Dela Cruz is running for vice mayor of Malabon in the 2025 midterm elections. Responding to the charges on her Facebook page, she expressed frustration, stating (translated): “Politics is really harsh. If they don’t get what they want, they resort to smear campaigns, and the next step is filing charges. Maybe next they’ll try to kill me.”
