THE Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on Saturday said it is eyeing to add more language courses under its National Language Skills Center (NLSC) to help advance the competitive edge of Filipino workers not only in the country but abroad.

Rosanna Urdaneta, TESDA officer-in-charge deputy director general said “As we continue to respond to the demands of our workers, we shall soon be offering various language courses in partnership with foreign embassies and other interested international organizations.”

The language courses include Arabic, Mandarin, Korean, Italian, and French, the agency said.

The TESDA official also noted that apart from teaching the language, the countries’ culture are also included in their courses.

At present, the agency’s NLSC offers the following:

– English Proficiency for Customer Service Workers

– Japanese Language and Culture

– Japanese Language and Culture Level II

– Spanish Language for Different Vocations

In 2021, TESDA said it has produced a total of 1,148 graduates under NLSC..

Meanwhile, Aniceto Bertiz III, the agency’s deputy director general for operations, said TESDA’s NLSC has programs in the pipeline aimed at strengthening the delivery of language skills training to Filipino workers.

“TESDA will continue to implement and improve its programs and services designed to improve the language skills of Filipino workers here and abroad in line with the new Marcos administration’s priority agenda,” Bertiz said.
