A SEABORNED patrol operation off Manilapa island, Zamboanga City resulted to the seizure of smuggled cigarettes from a motorized boat.
On Tuesday, the 2nd ZCMFC together with the Bureau of Customs, CISS and ESS intercepted a blue motorized wooden watercraft locally known as “Jungkong” loaded with 275 master cases and 32 reams of Fort smuggled cigarettes with an estimated market value of P9,647,400.00.
“We have noted a series of smuggling activities lately that have been the subject of successful police interdiction operations. It is with high hope that these efforts will boost the confidence of the business sector and the consumers that the law enforcers are working to protect them from people who intend to illegally sell these products,” PNP OIC Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. said.
Ten persons, who were onboard the water vessel, were arrested on the spot.
They were identified as: Edzar Aharaji; Jacob Alvarez; Aldimar Daniel; Rasdi Altalad; Juning Ibrahim; Samoudi Jamlul; Hussam Najir; Aluomar Asari; Almakrin Ayub; and Alnisar Jul.
They are now under the custody of the Bureau of Customs along with the confiscated pieces of evidence.
