An Indian national robbery suspect who allegedly robbed a fellow Indian trader at gunpoint was shot dead by a police officer who responded to the ongoing robbery.
Reports reaching the PNP Command Center disclosed that PCPL Reynante Baga, a member of Bamban Police Station, was passing by Barangay Anupul in Bamban, Tarlac at 12:25PM on Thursday when he personally witnessed what appeared to be a robbery in progress involving a lone victim and two suspects armed with handguns.
Baga told investigators he instinctively introduced himself to the suspects and gave a verbal command to put down their weapons.
However, the suspects allegedly pointed their guns at him instead, prompting him to use his own weapon hitting suspect Prince Deep Singh, an Indian national, resulting to his instantaneous death.
The other suspect managed to flee on board a motorcycle.
Victim Baljiit Singh revealed that the suspects robbed him of P80,000 cash at gunpoint.
“Our police investigators are doing case follow-up to identify and arrest the other suspect,” PNP OIC Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. said, adding that this is not the first time that Indian suspects had been reported victimizing fellow Indians who are doing business in the country.
