MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso signed on Wednesday, May 11, a memorandum ordering the strict implementation of “Batas Pambansa 880” or the “The Public Assembly Act.”
Domagoso said that those planning to hold a public gathering should obtain a permit first from the city government.
“Tapos na ang kampanya, tapos na ang halalan, nag desisyon na ang tao. Now, we have to put things in right order. For the purposes of moving on at kayo ay maibalik na sa normal, yung normal na pamumuhay, kailangan na pong ilagay natin sa tamang perspektibo ang mga bagay bagay,” Domagoso said.
“My job is to keep you safe. My job is to give you opportunity. Ang trabaho ko ay mabigyan kayo ng maaliwalas, matiwasay, at panatag na pamumuhay sa lungsod ng Maynila,” he added.
The mayor ordered Manila Police District Director Gen. Leo Francisco to strictly enforce the provisions of the said act.
Manila Barangay Bureau director Romy Bagay meanwhile was directed to ensure the strict implementation in all barangays of the nation’s capital.
Lastly, Bureau of Permits director Levi Facundo was hereby directed to “act promptly and expeditiously on applications for permit.”
