A 52‑year‑old man and his 51‑year‑old wife were seriously injured in an early‑morning attack allegedly carried out by their own son inside their home in Barangay Sangali, Zamboanga City, on Monday, November 2.
The victims were asleep at their residence on Star Apple Drive, Purok 6, when their 27‑year‑old son suddenly attacked them with a kitchen knife around 5:20 a.m., according to investigators. The father sustained a stab wound to the left chest, while the mother suffered multiple stab wounds to various parts of her body. There was no apparent motive for the assault, the victims told police.
Immediately after the attack, the suspect fled the house and remains at large as of press time. It was the couple’s 19‑year‑old daughter who alerted authorities to the violence, prompting a quick response from local emergency personnel.
The victims were first brought to the Zamboanga Regional Medical Center for urgent treatment before being transferred to the Zamboanga City Medical Center for more comprehensive care. Their current condition was not disclosed, though authorities confirmed they are receiving medical attention.
Personnel from Zamboanga City Police Station 3 have launched a manhunt for the suspect and are conducting interviews to establish a clearer picture of the incident. Police are urging anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts to contact investigators immediately. Authorities have assured the public that all legal measures are being taken to locate the suspect and bring him before the courts to answer for the crime.
