THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) are closely monitoring overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) impacted by widespread torrential rains and flooding across Thailand.
Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac confirmed that approximately 50 OFWs have already reached out for assistance, with reports indicating many are grappling with power outages and limited access to food and clean water. “There are about 50 OFWs who have asked for our help. In due time, we will provide the necessary assistance they need,” Cacdac stated.
The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok and the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) are at the forefront of the response, collecting reports and assessing the specific needs of those affected. The DMW is preparing food packs, water supplies, and financial aid packages for eligible workers, coordinating carefully with Thai authorities to ensure interventions complement rather than disrupt local relief efforts.
“On top of the assistance of the Thai government, we stand ready to help them. We will enter at the right time. We do not want to interfere with the efforts of the Thai government, but once it is coordinated, we will provide the necessary assistance,” Cacdac explained.
