TOLL collection on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) has been suspended for all vehicles traveling in both directions between Pulilan, Bulacan and San Fernando, Pampanga, effective Wednesday, September 2.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said the temporary toll-free passage was implemented to ease the burden on motorists severely affected by heavy traffic caused by flooding at the Tulaoc Bridge in San Simon, Pampanga.
Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez coordinated with NLEX Corporation President Luis Reñon to arrange the suspension of toll fees along the affected stretch, according to the DOTr announcement reported by GMA News. Portions of NLEX have continued to experience heavy traffic due to high floodwaters in San Simon, which also forced road closures and diversions in the area over recent days.
The DOTr has not yet specified how long the toll-free arrangement will remain in effect. Motorists are advised to monitor official traffic advisories from the DOTr and NLEX before traveling, as road conditions in flood-affected sections may still change.
