BOC Subic destroys various smuggled agri products

IN fulfillment of its mandate to protect the country’s borders and the public from goods that are harmful and unfit for consumption, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of Subic destroyed a total of 14×40’ containers of assorted agricultural products such as onions, carrots, fish and other seafood.

The abovementioned shipments arrived in December 2020, and June and December 2021.

The shipments were seized by the Port of Subic for violation of various Department of Agriculture Administrative Orders and Circulars, Section 1400 (misdeclaration), concerning Section 1113 (f) of the Republic Act No. 10863 otherwise known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).

The 14×40 containers shipments has a total value amounting to P101,134,900 consigned to the various consignee (Zhenpin Consumer Goods Trading, Gingarnion Agri Trading, and Schnell Wert OPC).

These various agricultural products will be destroyed through rendering, shredding, dumping, and thermal decomposition in an accredited facility of Greenleaf 88 non-hazardous waste disposal in Pampanga.

In her statement, District Collector Maritess Martin gave her assurance that the Port of Subic will remain vigilant and true to its mandate to prevent the entry of prohibited goods into our borders.
