FORMER senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. has been granted temporary liberty after posting a ₱1‑million bail bond in connection with a malversation case, Sandiganbayan Third Division Clerk of Court Dennis Pulma confirmed on Friday.
Revilla personally appeared before the anti‑graft court to complete the necessary proceedings leading to his release.
Revilla and his co‑accused face charges of malversation over an alleged ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan amounting to ₱92.8 million. The case stems from accusations that funds were released for infrastructure work that was never actually carried out. Although the offense is generally classified as non‑bailable, the court granted his petition for bail, which he has consistently maintained is proper given his denial of any wrongdoing.
Shortly after the court’s resolution was promulgated, Revilla expressed relief in a social media post. “Thank you Lord,” he wrote on his official Facebook page.
The former senator has repeatedly denied any involvement in the alleged irregularities surrounding the project, as legal proceedings against all accused continue.
