THE number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Quezon City has risen sharply by 265.22% over a three-week period, according to data released by the Quezon City Epidemiology and Surveillance Division (QCESD).
The significant increase signals a renewed uptick in virus transmission within the city, prompting health authorities to closely monitor the situation and review existing health protocols.
Records show that from May 1 to June 10, there were only 23 confirmed cases recorded. However, between June 11 and July 1, the figure jumped to 84 cases—a more than twofold increase in just a few weeks. This trend pushed the total number of confirmed COVID‑19 cases in the city for the year 2026 to reach 146, reflecting how quickly infections have multiplied in recent weeks.
Health officials have yet to identify the exact factors behind the surge, though it highlights the importance of continued vigilance among residents. The QCESD has reminded the public to remain cautious, observe proper hygiene, and follow health guidelines to help slow the spread. Authorities are also advising vulnerable groups to take extra precautions as they work to prevent further increases in cases across the city.
