A FEMALE teacher lost her life after being dragged and shot by her boyfriend, a soldier, in the municipality of Del Gallego, Camarines Sur.
The tragic incident took place on Thursday, as reported by GMA News’ “Saksi”, sending shockwaves through the community and prompting calls for justice from the victim’s grieving family.
According to witnesses, the victim was peacefully eating at the town plaza together with her friends when the suspect suddenly arrived and forcefully pulled her away from the group. A barangay tanod, who was nearby, attempted to intervene and stop the man, but was fired upon and injured. Moments later, multiple gunshots were heard, and onlookers found the teacher lying lifeless on the ground.
Following the attack, the suspect turned the gun on himself in an apparent attempt to take his own life. He survived the self‑inflicted injury, however, and is now under tight police guard while receiving treatment at a local hospital. The barangay tanod who tried to help also survived the shooting and is currently recovering from his wounds.
The victim’s family has strongly demanded accountability, appealing to authorities to ensure that the full weight of the law is applied against the perpetrator. Investigators are now gathering evidence and statements from witnesses to build a solid case, as the community mourns the loss of a dedicated educator whose life was cut short by violence.
