Diesel price rollback at P24.94, gasoline at P3.41 seen next week

Metrosundaily April 18, 2026

PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has strongly urged oil companies to implement the anticipated fuel price rollback for both diesel and gasoline in its entirety and without delay.

Speaking on Saturday, the President highlighted the significant price reductions expected next week, stating that diesel prices are projected to decrease by P24.94 per liter, gasoline by P3.41 per liter, and kerosene by P2.00 per liter. Marcos emphasized that this rollback is more substantial than the one implemented the previous week, signaling much-needed relief for the Filipino people.

The President’s directive to oil companies was unequivocal: “Implement the rollback fully, correctly, and without delay. Give the people what they deserve.” This call underscores the administration’s commitment to ensuring that the benefits of falling global oil prices translate directly to lower costs for consumers. The Department of Energy (DOE) had previously indicated the possibility of further pump price reductions as early as Wednesday, with official adjustments typically announced by fuel retailers on Mondays for implementation the following day.

In addition to the fuel price rollbacks, President Marcos assured the public that support for the transport sector would continue. This includes the P10 fuel discount for public utility vehicles (PUVs) and buses, as well as the Service Contracting Program designed to aid PUV drivers. Marcos stressed the importance of every cent saved being felt by every Filipino, emphasizing that people’s time should be spent on productive activities like family, school, and work, rather than waiting in long lines.

Furthermore, the President announced that the Land Transportation Office (LTO) is extending the validity of driver’s licenses, conductor’s licenses, student-driver’s permits, and motor vehicle registrations that are set to expire in April 2026. This extension, granted for three months without surcharges, penalties, or fines, is a measure to alleviate burdens on citizens amidst the ongoing Middle East crisis. President Marcos concluded by reaffirming his administration’s dedication to supporting Filipinos, stating, “We are aware of the situation of every Filipino during this time. We will not stop. We will not retreat. And we will not let this relief not reach the people.”
