MOTORISTS can anticipate a substantial decrease in fuel prices starting April 14, with projections indicating a rollback of P20.89 per liter for diesel, P4.43 per liter for gasoline, and P8.50 per liter for kerosene.
Energy Secretary Sharon Garin announced these expected price adjustments on Sunday, offering a much-needed respite for consumers following weeks of escalating fuel costs.
According to Secretary Garin, these projected price rollbacks, which are expected to take effect from April 14 to April 20, are based on the Department of Energy’s (DOE) analysis of international oil prices.
The calculation involves comparing the average international prices over the last five days with the average from the preceding week. This methodology aims to reflect the recent fluctuations in the global oil market, which have been significantly influenced by the ongoing military conflict in the Middle East.
While acknowledging that pump prices may vary across different gasoline stations, Secretary Garin emphasized that the projected rollbacks represent the minimum reduction consumers can expect.
This announcement comes as a welcome relief, as the country has been experiencing consistent price hikes in petroleum products, impacting various sectors including transportation and agriculture.
