FORMER President Rodrigo Duterte’s executive secretary, Salvador Medialdea, has been hospitalized and is scheduled to undergo a medical procedure, according to Senator Christopher “Bong” Go.
Go shared the news on Saturday, urging the public to offer prayers for Medialdea’s successful treatment and recovery. The announcement came after Medialdea reportedly felt unwell while delivering a message during an event in Davao City on March 28, prompting his immediate hospitalization.
Senator Go’s office released a statement on Facebook, conveying the call for public prayer. “Senator Bong Go is urging the public to pray for the successful medical procedure for former Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea,” the post read.
While the specific nature of the medical procedure was not disclosed, the senator’s appeal highlights the seriousness of Medialdea’s condition and the need for community support during this time. Medialdea, who served as Executive Secretary throughout Duterte’s term, was unable to complete his speech at the event due to feeling unwell.
This hospitalization marks a second instance of Medialdea requiring medical attention. It is recalled that he previously underwent a heart procedure in The Hague, Netherlands, in March 2025. Following that procedure, he was discharged from the hospital and was reported to be recovering well. His current hospitalization raises concerns, especially given his previous cardiac issue, which underscores the importance of ongoing health monitoring.
Currently, Medialdea is part of the legal team representing former President Duterte in connection with the charges of crimes against humanity being investigated by the International Criminal Court (ICC). His health status is being closely monitored, and the public’s prayers are being sought for his swift recovery and the successful completion of his upcoming medical procedure.
