THE Electric Love Bus Program is set to begin offering free rides to the public either in April or May, after the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and Global Electric Transport Philippines (GET Philippines) formalized their partnership on Tuesday.
In an official statement, the MMDA announced that the Love Bus is expected to be operational by the last week of April or the first week of May. A fleet of 10 electric buses, each capable of carrying 30 passengers, will serve key routes across Metro Manila from early morning until late evening, specifically from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. or 10 p.m.
The buses will operate along two main routes:
Eastbound:
- Robinsons Galleria
- Estancia Mall
- Arcovia
- Opus Mall
- Eastwood City
Westbound:
- Eastwood City
- C5–Eastwood Footbridge
- C5–Green Meadows Footbridge
- C5–Green Meadows Gate
- Tiendesitas
- C5–Julia Vargas
- Robinsons Galleria
Under the partnership agreement, the MMDA will oversee route management, enforce regulations, provide infrastructure support, and ensure alignment with public service objectives. Meanwhile, GET Philippines will handle the operation and maintenance of the electric buses.
MMDA Chair Romando Artes expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “Through this partnership, we are introducing fully electric buses that are cleaner, quieter, and more modern. These buses will help reduce pollution, ease congestion along key routes, and provide a more comfortable riding experience for passengers.”
GET Philippines President Sigfrido Tinga also emphasized the environmental benefits, saying, “We will make public transport palatable, enjoyable, safe, and environmentally friendly for everyone. The MMDA has come in to support the Love Bus program and make sure it happens.”
One of the program’s corporate sponsors, Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC), represented by President and CEO Mybelle Aragon-Gobio, highlighted the economic benefits, noting, “By linking Robinsons Galleria, Bridgetowne, and other nearby business districts along the C5 corridor, we are helping strengthen the connections within this vibrant economic zone.”
