IN a strongly worded statement released today, Rep. Bienvenido “Benny” Abante Jr. of Manila’s 6th District vehemently denied accusations that he accepted suitcases of cash, dismissing the claims as “completely false, baseless, and malicious.”

Abante asserted that the allegations are politically motivated, stemming from his unwavering stance on justice, particularly concerning victims of extrajudicial killings. “This is simply the product of politics,” Abante stated. “I am being targeted because of the positions I have taken and the stands I have refused to compromise.”

The congressman stood firm on his record and principles, vowing not to be deterred by what he described as “fabricated attacks.” He affirmed his commitment to continue fighting for justice for all Filipinos.

Drawing upon religious scripture, Abante quoted Exodus 20:16: “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.” He expressed confidence that the truth would prevail once all facts are revealed. “I believe when the facts are laid bare, the truth will speak for itself—and those who chose falsehood will have to answer not only to the public, but to their own conscience, and to our God,” he concluded.
