BAROBO Mayor Ronito Martizano survived an ambush attempt by unidentified assailants around 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
Initial reports indicate that Martizano was traveling in his Toyota Hi Ace from Sitio Panaraga, Gamut, Barobo when a gray Toyota car blocked his vehicle. An undetermined number of gunmen then opened fire on the mayor’s vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Martizano sustained a gunshot wound to his shoulder and is currently receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital. His security escort was also wounded in the attack. Police authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
