THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has issued a notice to mariners, placing them on alert for a distressed foreign vessel spotted in waters off Suluan Island in Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
The Coast Guard Station (CGS) Eastern Samar identified the vessel as Xiang Guang 11, with MMSI No. 352001540. The ship was last located approximately 54 nautical miles east-northeast of Alegria Beach, Santa Monica, Surigao del Norte.
The Coast Guard advised all ships and watercraft navigating within the vicinity of Suluan Island and nearby waters to maintain heightened vigilance and keep a lookout for the distressed vessel. Mariners who may sight Xiang Guang 11 were urged to render immediate assistance, in accordance with maritime safety protocols, and to promptly report the sighting to the nearest Coast Guard unit or directly to CGS Eastern Samar through its hotline at 0945-3984-795.
