IN a swift response to allegations of corruption, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon announced on Friday the immediate relief and suspension of three officials from their posts for allegedly soliciting commissions from agency projects.
Dizon stated that he received reports indicating that the officials, assigned to the District 2 Engineering Office of Pampanga, were extorting up to 8% of the value of DPWH projects. The DPWH will conduct a full investigation into the incident.
The officials were identified as Ranilo Magtoto, Chief of Maintenance; Arnold Domingo, Engineer 3 of Construction Section; and Jefferson Guinto, Engineer 3 of Construction Section. Dizon emphasized his policy of immediately relieving any DPWH official or employee upon receiving credible information about their involvement in corruption, such as extortion.
