Atong Ang with counsel Lorna Kapunan
THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has a lead on the last known location of businessman Atong Ang, according to spokesperson Palmar Mallari.
“We have, actually, addresses where supposedly some of the accused and even Charlie ‘Atong’ Ang were supposedly last seen,” Mallari stated in a briefing. Ang is currently facing arrest warrants issued by a Batangas court for multiple counts of kidnapping with homicide and kidnapping and serious illegal detention.
Mallari also expressed confidence that Ang remains within the country. “There is no information that he has left. And that is being reinforced by the statements and the records of the Bureau of Immigration… information from reliable sources that he has not yet left,” Deputy Director for Operations Jose Justo Yap added.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) began enforcing the arrest warrant on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group has requested the issuance of an Interpol red notice against Ang.
