A CHRISTMAS party has led to significant repercussions for a police station in Eastern Samar, as seventeen officers have been relieved from their posts after allegedly participating in a drinking session while on duty.
The incident, involving half of the station’s personnel, has sparked outrage and prompted swift action from the Philippine National Police (PNP).
According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Analoza Catilogo-Armeza of the PNP Regional Public Information Office in Eastern Visayas, the relieved officers, including the Dolores Municipal Station’s chief of police and a non-uniformed personnel (NUP), are accused of consuming alcohol during their Christmas party at the Dolores Municipal Station.
A photo of the alleged drinking session circulated widely on social media, further fueling public criticism.
Catilogo-Armeza emphasized that drinking liquor inside a police station is strictly prohibited. The PNP has initiated a reassignment of personnel to fill the void left by the relieved officers.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of upholding professional standards and maintaining discipline within the police force, especially during festive occasions.
