GOVERNMENT employees across the Philippines will have an extended New Year’s break as Malacañang has suspended work in government offices nationwide from December 29, 2025, to January 2, 2026.
Executive Secretary Ralph Recto signed Memorandum Circular 111 on December 18, granting government personnel a “full opportunity to celebrate New Year’s Day activities and to allow them to travel to and from different regions in the country.”
The memo specifies that agencies responsible for basic, vital, and health services, as well as preparedness and response duties, must maintain their operations during this period.
While government offices will be closed, the decision to suspend work in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads, according to the memorandum.
The Palace has declared December 30 (Rizal Day), December 31 (New Year’s Eve), and January 1 (New Year’s Day) as official holidays.
