Solon calls on gov’t to prioritize recovery over politics

Oducado: VisMin typhoon survivors still waiting on housing, livelihood support
admin December 15, 2025

Representative Nat Oducado of the 1Tahanan Partylist

1Tahanan Partylist Representative Cong. Nathan Oducado urged the Government to prioritize programs to help survivors of Typhoon Tino and Uwan recover in time for Christmas.

“While we tackle issues concerning political dynasties and corruption, we cannot forget the real needs and demands of Typhoon survivors especially in Visayas and Mindanao,” said Cong. Oducado. “More than a month after Typhoon Tino made landfall, survivors are still waiting for housing and livelihood support from the government.”

According to Oducado, the Government should hasten assistance to Tino survivors, many of whom rely on agriculture for their livelihood. “The Administration must provide programs to supplement the income of 120,361 farmers impacted by Tino across eight regions, especially those in Western, Eastern and Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Soccsksargen and Caraga who were hit the hardest,” said Oducado.

Oducado also stressed the need to provide adequate and safe housing to those who lost their houses during the onslaught of Tino. “It is heartbreaking that many of our fellow Filipinos would be celebrating Christmas in evacuation centers instead of their homes,” said the Representative.

According to Oducado, “sufficient and responsive” programs which address “urgent issues” are needed in order to rebuild trust and inspire hope among the People amid issues of corruption.

“We as public officials need to assert that public service is still a force for good, especially in times of crises,” said Oducado. “The fact that recovery from Tino is taking this long is unacceptable and we must triple our efforts to ensure that no Filipino is left behind
