REPRESENTATIVE Gila Garcia revealed yesterday that the proposed all-weather road Six-lane Roman superhighway had been approved by the House’s Committee on Public Works and Highways.
Says Rep. Garcia her in social media announcement, “House Bill No. 1967, which mandates the full conversion and maintenance of the Roman Superhighway in the Province of Bataan as an all-weather road, has been approved at the Committee level under the Committee on Public Works and Highways.”
From a rough and dilapidated two – lane national road, the Roman highway have been gradually widened into six-six lane from Layac all the way to Zigzag, Mariveles thru the initiatives of congressman Abet S. Garcia, Gov. Joet S. Garcia and Rep. Gila, making it a major access road to Bataan.
Rep. Gila pointed out that “the initiative forms part of a united legislative push to improve and climate-proof the Roman Superhighway—our province’s main national road—alongside related measures filed by Rep. Albert “Abet” S. Garcia — HB 1081 and Rep. Jernie Jett V. Nisay — HB 3131.”
“This is critical as we prepare for major catalysts of growth such as the Bataan–Cavite Interlink Bridge (BCIB), expanded industrial activity, port and logistics development, and increasing mobility across Luzon,” pointed out the lady solon. She said this is not just a road project—it is a long-term investment in regional connectivity and economic progress.
“Hindi lang para sa Bataan, kundi para sa mas malawak na daloy ng komersyo, kalakalan, at oportunidad sa buong Luzon. Maraming salamat sa ating mga kapwa mambabatas mula sa Bataan at sa mga kasapi ng Committee para sa kanilang suporta. We will continue working toward its passage into law,” added Rep. Gila.
