SIX officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 4B were transferred to the New Quezon City Jail in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City, this Monday afternoon, November 24, 2025.
The transfer is in connection with their arrest related to the anomalous flood control project in Oriental Mindoro. The officials are facing charges of corruption and misuse of public funds, which have compromised the integrity and effectiveness of the flood control measures in the region.
The arrest and subsequent transfer of the DPWH officials highlight the government’s intensified efforts to combat corruption within its ranks.
The flood control project, intended to protect communities in Oriental Mindoro from devastating floods, was allegedly riddled with irregularities, including overpricing, substandard materials, and ghost employees. These anomalies not only jeopardized the safety of residents but also deprived the province of much-needed infrastructure improvements.
