Building A More Capable and Resilient Police Force

admin November 15, 2025

Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.

                               — American football coach Vince Lombardi

ON the morning of November 13, 2025, Philippine National Police (PNP) acting chief Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. reaffirmed his pledge to build a more capable and resilient police force during his visiting at the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) in Silang, Cavite.

The visit focused on a straightforward yet important mission: enhancing the quality of police education and ensuring that the academy continues to produce officers who embody discipline, integrity, and professionalism.

During his dialogue with PNPA acting director Brigadier Gen. Andre Perez Dizon, together with PNPA officials and leaders, Chief Nartatez emphasized that the transformation of the police service begins long before officers are deployed in the field.

He enthused: “It starts with the people who guide, instruct and shape the cadets every day. Strengthening the academy’s leadership and instructional capacity is essential to developing future officers who can uphold the highest standards of public service.”

Also discussed during the dialogue were ongoing and future development efforts at the academy that focused on upgrading facilities, modernizing training tools and improving academic and leadership programs that support cadets, instructors and PNPA personnel.

“These efforts align with the broader direction set by the PNP leadership to ensure that cadets are well prepared for the responsibilities ahead of them,” Nartatez pointed out.

He likewise noted that improving police education is not only about infrastructure or equipment because it also involves creating an environment where cadets learn the value of discipline, responsibility and sincere service to the Filipino people.

Under his leadership, the PNP continues to pursue the vision of a ‘Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman’—a police organization that is modern, principled and deeply connected to the communities it serves.
