SENATE Deputy Majority Leader Risa Hontiveros released a copy of her 2024 Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) on Monday, demonstrating her commitment to transparency and accountability.
According to her 2024 SALN, Hontiveros declared a net worth of P18.986 million, with assets totaling P19.884 million and liabilities of P897,840, primarily a car loan.
Hontiveros has been a vocal advocate for greater transparency in government, previously stating her full support for removing restrictions on access to public officials’ SALNs, which she described as “unjust, unconstitutional, and anti-people.”
She believes that opening SALNs is a crucial step in strengthening transparency and accountability, particularly in light of recent corruption allegations within the government. Her actions come after the Office of the Ombudsman, under Jesus Crispin Remulla, issued a memo scrapping the previous restrictions on access to the SALNs of public officials, reversing a controversial 2020 policy that limited public access.
