PNP, NCRPO on full alert as protests erupt over flood control project anomalies

admin September 13, 2025

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) have been placed on full alert following the eruption of protests across Metro Manila concerning alleged anomalies in flood control projects. The heightened alert status aims to ensure public safety and maintain order during the demonstrations.

NCRPO Chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin announced that all vacation leaves for NCRPO personnel have been canceled, and officers will be accounted for in four-hour formations, ready for immediate deployment.

“Our police units are on full alert and ready to protect both demonstrators and the general public,” Aberin stated. “Security measures have been set to prevent untoward incidents such as clashes, vandalism, and traffic disruptions, while ensuring that the rights of all are safeguarded.”

Aberin emphasized the importance of responsible participation in the protests, reminding participants to exercise their constitutional rights peacefully and responsibly, without endangering public safety or disrupting community life.

He also instructed NCRPO personnel to observe maximum tolerance and act only when necessary to enforce the law. PNP Public Information Office Chief Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuano confirmed that police officers have been ordered to remain unarmed and avoid confrontational tactics during the protests.
