Plaridel, Bulacan – A P96.5-million flood control project in Plaridel, Bulacan, has been flagged as a “ghost project” by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon personally inspected the site on Thursday, September 4, uncovering discrepancies between official records and the actual status of the project.
According to official documents, the project was slated for completion in June 2024. However, Secretary Dizon’s on-site investigation revealed that construction only commenced in August 2025, a year after the supposed completion date.
This information was corroborated by barangay officials, local residents, and even the project foreman, raising serious questions about the integrity of the project’s bidding process and the utilization of public funds.
The discovery of this “ghost project” underscores the ongoing efforts by the DPWH to combat corruption and ensure accountability in infrastructure projects.
