PNP strengthens E911, focuses on BARMM poll security

admin August 21, 2025

PHILIPPINE National Police Chief Gen. Nicolas D. Torre III underscored the importance of the E911 emergency hotline as the public’s direct link to immediate police assistance.

“With just one call to 911, help will come right away. Response will be faster, coordination smoother, and accountability ensured,” Torre said.

Under his leadership, the E911 system was reinforced and transferred to the PNP Command Center in Camp Crame, alongside the introduction of a 5-minute response policy to guarantee swift police action nationwide.

According to P/Supt. Ramon Pranada, the system has already achieved a 73% satisfaction rating—an 11% increase since Torre assumed office on June 2. To prove the system’s reliability, Pranada conducted a live 911 test call from Bukidnon, one of the country’s most remote and mountainous provinces, which was promptly addressed by police responders. In preparation for the upcoming Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections, Torre reported that in line with a COMELEC resolution, the gun ban began on August 14 and will last until October 28.

Nearly 10,000 police personnel have been deployed across BARMM to ensure safe, peaceful, and credible elections.

Based on PNP records, 94 municipalities in BARMM are currently under the “red category” or areas of grave concern.

Meanwhile, the towns of Buluan in Maguindanao del Sur and Datu Odin Sinsuat in Maguindanao del Norte remain under COMELEC control due to recent incidents of violence, although the declaration may soon be lifted.

“These efforts are meant to safeguard the people and uphold the integrity of the elections in BARMM,” Torre concluded.
