THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced that over 1.4 million individuals have registered to vote in the 2025 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) as of Thursday, August 7.
A total of 1,452,060 voter registrations were recorded during the recently concluded 10-day registration period.
Region IV-A (Calabarzon) recorded the highest number of registrations with 184,683, followed by Region III (Central Luzon) with 154,551, Region V (Bicol) with 114,051, and the National Capital Region with 111,979. The Special Registration Anywhere Program (SRAP) sites in Metro Manila received 10,418 applications.
Comelec Chairman George Garcia previously hailed the BSKE voter registration as the most successful in history, citing the high number of registrations within a short timeframe.
The initial goal of one million registrations was surpassed within five days, prompting Chairman Garcia to raise the target to 1.5 million. The Comelec has confirmed that there will be no extension to the registration period.
