THE House of Representatives is urging the Senate to postpone its decision on the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte.
House spokesperson Atty. Princess Abante stated this position during a press conference on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
Abante articulated that it would be prudent for the Senate to await the Supreme Court’s decision on the House’s Motion for Reconsideration before taking any further action on the impeachment proceedings.
This suggests a belief within the House that the Supreme Court’s ruling on the motion could significantly impact the Senate’s process and decision.
The House’s call for a delay highlights the ongoing legal complexities surrounding the impeachment case. The filing of a Motion for Reconsideration indicates that the House seeks a review of the Supreme Court’s previous ruling on the constitutionality of the impeachment process.
By requesting the Senate to defer its decision, the House aims to ensure that the Senate’s actions align with any potential changes or clarifications that may result from the Supreme Court’s review of the Motion for Reconsideration. This emphasizes the House’s desire for a legally sound and procedurally correct impeachment process.
