THE National Police Commission (Napolcom) has found probable cause against twelve police officers implicated in the disappearance of several sabungeros (cockfight enthusiasts).
The accused include three police officials and nine non-commissioned officers. This finding paves the way for the continuation of administrative proceedings against the officers, who could face dismissal from the police force.
The decision to proceed with the administrative case is based on the affidavit of whistleblower Julie “Dondon” Patidongan, according to Napolcom Investigation and Monitoring director Edman Pares. Patidongan, along with the families of the missing sabungeros, filed their complaint last week.
The Napolcom ‘s finding of probable cause represents a significant step forward in the investigation, signaling a potential path towards accountability for the alleged police involvement in this high-profile case. The focus now shifts to the administrative proceedings, where the accused officers will have the opportunity to present their defense.
