MANILA is facing a significant garbage crisis, with unpaid debts totaling nearly ₱950 million hindering waste management efforts, according to Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso.
On his first day back in office, Domagoso encountered this pressing issue, prompting him to declare a state of public health emergency.
He immediately directed barangay officials to launch immediate cleanup operations across the city, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
The mayor’s appeal for a unified effort transcends political affiliations, focusing on the health and safety of Manila residents. He urged residents to actively participate in cleaning streets, creeks, and canals.
