Salceda backs Nepomuceno’s BOC appointment

admin June 30, 2025

ALBAY Representative Joey Salceda has lauded the appointment of Ariel Nepomuceno as the new Bureau of Customs (BOC) commissioner, emphasizing Nepomuceno’s extensive experience and proven success in disaster risk reduction and management.

Salceda highlighted their close collaboration on President Marcos’ Executive Order No. 24, which established the Disaster Response and Crisis Management Task Force.

He personally witnessed Nepomuceno’s ability to effectively balance national security concerns, humanitarian efforts, and institutional reforms, describing his approach as marked by “discipline and quiet competence.”

Salceda further praised Nepomuceno’s leadership at the Office of Civil Defense, where he transformed disaster governance into a more professional and science-driven system.

He noted that the awarding of the Gawad Kalasag Hall of Fame to him reflected their shared belief in the critical role of strong institutions in saving lives. Salceda expressed confidence that Nepomuceno will bring the same level of integrity and strategic focus to the BOC, believing his appointment to be a significant step towards improved governance within the agency.
