NCR minimum wage soars to ₱695: Highest hike ever approved

admin June 30, 2025

THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has announced a significant daily minimum wage increase for approximately 1.2 million workers in the National Capital Region (NCR), marking the highest wage hike ever approved by the NCR wage board.

The increase will be effective July 18 with the minimum wage jump by ₱50 per day, reaching ₱695 for non-agriculture sectors and ₱658 for workers in agriculture, retail, and service industries.

This substantial increase reflects a concerted effort to address the rising cost of living and provide much-needed financial relief to a substantial portion of the NCR workforce.

The decision underscores the government’s commitment to improving the socio-economic conditions of workers and ensuring a more equitable distribution of wealth.

This landmark wage adjustment is a testament to the ongoing advocacy for fair labor practices and the persistent efforts of worker’s unions and advocacy groups.

The significant increase is expected to have a considerable impact on the lives of millions of workers and their families, potentially boosting consumer spending and stimulating economic activity.

While the long-term effects of this increase remain to be seen, it represents a crucial step towards a more just and equitable labor landscape in the National Capital Region.

The DOLE will continue to monitor the impact of this wage adjustment and assess the need for future adjustments based on economic indicators and the evolving needs of the workforce.
