THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) at the Port of Clark intercepted a shipment containing 3,004 ecstasy tablets, valued at approximately ₱5,126,350, concealed within dog food pellets.
The shipment, originating from Paris, France, and destined for Taguig City, was flagged following a tip from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). A K-9 sniff test confirmed the presence of narcotics, leading to a full inspection revealing the ecstasy tablets hidden in transparent pouches within the pet food.
Laboratory analysis by PDEA confirmed the substance as Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA). The shipment was seized under Republic Act No. 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act) and Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act). District Collector Jairus S. Reyes highlighted the seizure’s significance in protecting Filipinos’ health and safety.
Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio emphasized the BOC’s commitment to preventing illegal drugs from entering the country, aligning with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s vision for a drug-free society.
The successful interdiction underscores the BOC’s ongoing efforts in combating drug smuggling at all entry points nationwide.
