HOUSE Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez lauded the accomplishments of the 19th Congress, emphasizing its focus on delivering tangible results for the Filipino people.

Addressing his colleagues on Monday, Romualdez highlighted the chamber’s impressive legislative output, stating, “Let me say this with pride: This House of the People delivered.”

The Speaker cited the House’s success in enacting 27 out of 28 LEDAC priority bills and 61 out of 64 measures under the broader Common Legislative Agenda.

He underscored the chamber’s commitment to digitalization, urging the passage of key legislation including the Open Access in Data Transmission Act, the E-Governance Act, and the country’s first comprehensive Artificial Intelligence law. Romualdez also stressed the House’s unwavering support for President Marcos Jr.’s P20 rice program, emphasizing its importance in ensuring food security for Filipino families.

Beyond the numbers, Romualdez emphasized the human impact of the legislation passed.

He pointed to successful measures combating smuggling, supporting local agriculture with a P30 billion annual investment, addressing job-skills mismatches, and protecting the rights of overseas Filipino workers through the Magna Carta for Filipino Seafarers. “These are real solutions to real problems – not just speeches, not just slogans,” he stated.

Romualdez attributed the 19th Congress’s success to a collaborative spirit, transcending partisan divides to prioritize the needs of the Filipino people.

He acknowledged the contributions of all members, both those re-elected and those leaving the chamber, emphasizing that their collective efforts have left a lasting legacy. T

he Speaker concluded by highlighting the sheer volume of legislative work undertaken during the 19th Congress, including the filing of 13,868 measures and the passage of 280 Republic Acts. He framed this achievement not as a testament to political power, but as a demonstration of the power of democracy and the spirit of “Bagong Pilipinas.”
