A POLICE corporal assigned to Ecoland Police Station 15 in Davao City is in custody following the fatal shooting of a 39-year-old businesswoman on Sunday night.
The victim, identified only as Dianna, was found with gunshot wounds inside a parked vehicle along Palma Gil Street at approximately 11 p.m. A witness reported hearing two gunshots emanating from a black pickup truck before seeing a man in dark clothing calmly leaving the scene.
Responding officers rushed Dianna to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The subsequent investigation led authorities to identify the suspect as Police Corporal Marvin Perez, who was apprehended at around 5 a.m. on Monday.
Forensic evidence recovered at the scene, including two empty shell casings from a 9mm pistol, is undergoing ballistic testing.
According to investigators from the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), Perez and Dianna were allegedly involved in a romantic relationship.
Sources suggest the couple had been seen together frequently and recently experienced a falling out over personal matters.
The DCPO’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit is currently examining phone records and messages to further establish the motive behind the killing. Administrative and criminal charges are being prepared against Corporal Perez.
