
THE Philippine National Police – Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP) announced Friday that the driver involved in the fatal car crash at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on May 4 has been released on bail,
Police Lieutenant Colonel Lizel Dimaandal, chief of the AVSEGROUP Public Information Office, confirmed the driver’s release from NAIA Police Station 1 following a court order from the Regional Trial Court, National Capital Region, Branch 109, Pasay City.
The driver posted a P100,000 cash bond to secure his provisional liberty.
After undergoing a physical and medical examination at the Pasay City General Hospital, which showed no external injuries, the driver was released into the custody of his live-in partner. Previous tests had also ruled out alcohol and drug impairment as factors in the incident.
The May 4 crash, involving a Batangas-registered SUV driven by a 47-year-old man, resulted in two fatalities and multiple injuries at the Departure West Curbside Area of NAIA Terminal 1. The driver was arrested at the scene by NAIA Police Station 1 personnel.
He now faces criminal charges under the Revised Penal Code for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, multiple physical injuries, and damage to property. The investigation into the incident continues.
