THE Palace on Tuesday criticized Vice President Sara Duterte for stating she will not assist President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in achieving his goal of ₱20-per-kilo rice.
During a press briefing, Palace Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro responded to Duterte’s comments in a Zamboanga City interview, where the Vice President deemed the ₱20-per-kilo rice target unrealistic. While acknowledging the possibility of achieving this price point, Duterte added, “But it’s possible. I won’t share it with you because I don’t want to help BBM [Bongbong Marcos].”
Castro asserted that Duterte’s statement revealed her “true colors” as a public servant. Castro criticized Duterte’s refusal to share any knowledge she might possess on achieving the price goal, characterizing this as selfish and a failure to utilize her position for the benefit of the Filipino people.
