THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Friday, March 14, denied monitoring any credible information about threats to Metro Manila, despite rumors circulating on social media.
The NCRPO statement comes after a Facebook page, “Maranao TV,” posted a video featuring an unidentified man advising residents to prepare for a potential emergency situation in Metro Manila. The man urged residents to stock up on food, medicine, and batteries, claiming that “something is coming up.”
The NCRPO assures the public that it has conducted a thorough investigation and, based on intelligence reports, there is no information suggesting any security threat that would warrant alarm in Metro Manila. The NCRPO is currently investigating the identity of the individual featured in the video.
“We want to assure everyone that our stringent security measures are already established in coordination with other security agencies and contingency plans are in place for any unusual occurrence in the security situation,” the NCRPO stated.
The NCRPO encourages residents to remain calm and to be discerning about information they encounter on social media. They also urge the public to report any suspicious individuals or events to the nearest police station for immediate action.
