PHILIPPINE Chief General Dionardo Carlos congratulated the Quezon City Police District Police Station 14 over the recent discovery of assorted firearms, ammunition and explosives, preventing any intent to use these for criminal acts.
The contraband was seized on February 19, 2022, in Barangay P. Tamo, Quezon City.
Initial investigation reveals that the tipster was the daughter of a certain Emerson Agapalo who was involved in a shooting incident last February 17.
According to her, she came across a suspicious bunker in the basement of their house following the death of her father.
She then reported this to the authorities.
Upon receiving the information, police personnel immediately went to the house and confiscated a number of items such as: two rifle grenade; one fragmentation hand grenade; four pcs. of 38 revolvers; one improvised long firearm; one caliber 9mm; 34 rounds of live ammunition for 12 gauge shotgun; 160 pcs of (5.56) live ammo for M-16; and two magazine assemblies for M-16 rifle.
The firearms were turned over to the Quezon City District Explosive and Canine Unit (DECU), while the rest were given to the Firearms Identification Division for proper disposition.
“These items or articles can still be used for violent attempts in the future if given to the wrong hands. We are glad that our police personnel promptly took action to a random report. In the meantime, we are now identifying the owners of these firearms,” PNP Chief General Dionardo Carlos said.
Carlos added that this a major leap in the campaign against criminality at the height of the election season.
